The visit recognized the completion of the field of play works including the renovated oval and practice wickets at the northern and southern end. The completion of these works is a major milestone for the project and a culmination of extensive work by the project team to deliver a beginning class oval and practice facilities. On the eastern side (Queens Road side) of the oval, the Contractor is finalizing the definite up stand around the oval to allow for the construction of the perimeter pathway which will enable spectators to circulate around the oval. Works will commence shortly on the retaining wall on the outer of this perimeter pathway on the eastern side of the oval to enable the soil mounds to be shaped for the grassed spectator seating berms. These spectator berms will bear an impressive outlook onto the field and play and be an inviting and relaxed environment for families to watch the cricket. At the northern last (City end) of the site, works are progressing well on the main building. The roof structure to the basement level has been laid to produce the platform for the main entry to the building. Cricket Victoria, Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades staff visited the site during the week to get an thankfulness of the scale of the labor that is happening to their coming home. Further external works to the grandstand as healthy as the adjacent Kevin Murray grandstand will occur later this year. Grow and diversify cricket's fan base in Victoria.
